Duties
- Collection Management - Select, acquire, organize, and maintain print and digital resources (books, media, databases) to support the school’s curriculum and mission.
- Instructional Support - Collaborate with faculty to integrate information literacy, research skills, and responsible use of information into classroom instruction.
- Technology & Resource Access - Ensure effective access to library materials, digital tools, and research platforms for students and faculty, including training and support in their use.
- Administration & Leadership - Manage the library budget, oversee library staff, and develop and implement library policies, procedures, and strategic goals.
- Library as a Hub - Cultivate the library as a welcoming, student-centered space that supports study, research, reading, and quiet reflection.
- Student Engagement & Programs - Promote a culture of reading and inquiry through clubs and activities (e.g., Book Society) and other literary or research-focused programs.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science preferred.
- CA Teacher Librarian Services Credential or equivalent teaching credential/license preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in any field required.
- 5–10 years of professional librarian experience, preferably including service in a school.
- Demonstrated success working with high school students and collaborating with faculty on curriculum and instruction is highly valued,
- Proven leadership and management skills, including budget development and strategic planning.
- Strong knowledge of current and emerging library technologies, integrated library systems, and online research databases.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, faculty, students, and parents.
- Demonstrates a personal commitment to the philosophy of a Catholic education.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to remain in an office at a computer workstation and access information from a computer and use a telephone. The employee is required to be mobile to, from, and within the school, as well as maneuver throughout the school facility to attend meetings, briefings, and other work-related events. The employee may be required to conduct trips to, from, and within various city and county-wide locations to attend meetings or events. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
