This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced research professional to join our team. Our Senior Research Programme Coordinators are responsible for supporting academics through the research lifecycle, from initial costing and submission of high-quality research proposals to the ongoing management of active projects and project closures. You will be supporting research that really makes a difference to future health outcomes.

The salary range for this role is $73,400 – $90,700 depending on skills and experience.

Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team

The Research Services team at the Faulty of Medical and Health Science facilitate our research teams to carry out ground-breaking research that changes health outcomes for our communities. We’re proud of our flat structure that facilitates collaboration and allows people to flourish. The role reports to a Research Programme Manager and works alongside a supportive team of other Research Programme Coordinators.

The complexities within this position and portfolio will allow you to stretch and develop skillsets that prime you to advance your career while supporting research that really makes a difference to future health outcomes.

He kōrero mōu | About you

You will be a highly organised, flexible and meticulous individual, who has research management and financial experience, gained in a research-intensive setting. Your ability to build relationships and maintain a high level of customer service while proactively finding solutions to a range of complex issues will underpin your success in this position.

You will be able to demonstrate the following: 

  • Ability to drive process improvements for efficient, high‑quality funding rounds.
  • Strong writing skills – ability to create clear funding calls and guidelines from meeting decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interpret and explain complex policies to non-specialists. 
  • Experience developing funding proposals, ensuring compliance with client/funder guidelines.
  • Proactively manage a portfolio of research contracts, providing both financial and non-financial post-award support, and ensuring that researchers meet their contracted obligations.
  • Adept at working collaboratively, though with the ability and autonomy to effectively prioritise your own workload to meet deadlines. 
  • Be flexible and adaptable in a busy environment, balancing multiple demands to a high level of accuracy, with exceptional attention to detail.
