Gretchen’s House – Little Huskies Child Development Center, located on the campus of Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan is currently accepting applications for a Preschool Teacher.


We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Preschool Teacher to join our early childhood education team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape young minds and foster a love of learning in a nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about early childhood development and committed to creating a positive, engaging classroom experience for young children.


Key Responsibilities:

- Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum that promotes cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development

- Create a safe, welcoming, and stimulating classroom environment

- Observe and assess children's progress, providing feedback to parents and guardians

- Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues

- Encourage social skills, independence, and curiosity among students

- Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization

- Follow all safety and health regulations and policies


Skills and Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, Child Development, or a related field

- Prior experience working with preschool-aged children

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- Patience, creativity, and a nurturing attitude

- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

- Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education

Requirements

  • A bachelor's or associate degree in early childhood education or related field is preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid
  • Current TB Test
  • Current Physical
  • Ability to relate joyfully and sensitively to children, co-workers and families
  • Sensitive to the individual needs of families
  • Ability to communicate with families effectively
  • Knowledge of rules, regulations and standards
  • Knowledge of child development
  • Ability to provide appropriate guidance
  • Ability to seek supervision and use it constructively
  • Evidence of emotional maturity and stability
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position
  • Evidence of sufficient judgment to handle crisis situations
