About the Role

Description

SUMMARY:

The Petroleum Drafter is responsible for developing detailed technical drawings and plans for construction projects. This role involves using CAD software to create blueprints for construction and customer sites. The Petroleum Drafter collaborates closely with the Construction Coordinator, Construction department, and Sales team to ensure that all designs are accurate, compliant with industry standards, and align with project specifications. 


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create detailed 2D and 3D drawings, plans, and schematics for various systems such as piping, mechanical layouts, and electrical diagrams. 
  • Use computer aided design such as AutoCAD to prepare and manage all technical drawings.
  • Translate complex sketches, field notes, and geological data into precise, executable plans. 
  • Verify that all drawings meet industry regulations, company standards, and project specifications.
  • Revise and update drawings throughout the project life cycle.
  • Organize and manage all project drawings and related documents including specifications and material lists.
  • Visit sites to gather field data, verify measurements and confirm accuracy of drawings as needed. 
  • Serve as a back up to the Construction Coordinator.


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience working in petroleum industry or knowledge of industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Extraordinary attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in CAD Software.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Primarily perform work in an office setting and use standard office equipment. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person, or over the telephone. Ability to visit job sites in outside weather conditions and with moderate noise levels.
