Job Summary:

GenCare Lifestyle @ Pt. Ruston is a Premier IL/AL/Memory Care Senior Living Community in Tacoma, and a recent multiple US News & World Report Community Award Winner. We are seeking to add amazing, caring, and compassionate quality licensed Memory Care Caregivers and CNAs to our team. We currently have Full Time and Part Time memory Care caregiver positions available. Must have a kind, patient attitude as you will be assisting Senior Living and Memory Care Residents live a more purposeful life.
FULL TIME BENEFITS:
Base Medical plan is 99% employer paid, Dental, Vision and Life at the employees expense, Paid sick (1 hour for every 40 worked, able to roll over max of 56 hours) and 6 paid holidays per year plus a paid day off for your birthday, one week vacation after one year employment, with an additional week beginning in year 2 finally with an additional week starting in the 47th month for a total of 3 weeks, quarterly raises for hourly employees, 401K eligible after 6 months with up to a 4% employer match after one year of employment, up to 3 days of bereavement and up to 5 days jury leave, First Choice Health Employee Assistance Program, free CEU’s, LPN and CNA annual license reimbursement, Free meal at work.

Position Description

Work as a Guide for our dementia residents to ensure they have a meaningful life each day. Primary responsibility is to provide a fun, structured, and purposeful day full of appropriate activities, which will include helping serve meals and snacks. Secondary responsibility is to help with ADL’s and care duties as requested and as needed. 

 

Under the general supervision of the Memory Care Director, the Memory Care Guide shall possess the following qualifications and perform the following duties and responsibilities: 

 

 

EXPERIENCE 

  1. Industry related work with vulnerable cognitively impaired adults 
  2. Nursing or medical work with dementia residents preferred  
  3. Experience in Vitality/Activity programs   

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: 

 

  • Assist in developing and carrying out Vitality daily programs that include the personal interests of every resident. 
  • Plan and coordinate Vitality offerings in collaboration with community themes, events, and holidays. 
  • Find the ‘just right” activity for every resident. Use adult equipment and supplies. 
  • Include daily fitness, exercise, and/or balance activities. 
  • Perform personal care skills to include bathing, mouth care and skin, resident grooming and dressing, and toileting assistance, as requested by the Memory Care Director.  
  • Provide a clean, orderly, and safe environment for the resident. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify the psychosocial characteristics of all residents including those with mental illness, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and other related disorders.   
  • Demonstrate consistency in regard to residents rights and decisions regarding care  
  • Be available to train for and cover other shifts and assist the Memory Care Director to ensure the smooth operation of the Memory Care area. 
  • Complete all other duties as assigned  

 

 

 

 OUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Minimum of Twenty-One (21) years of the age  
  2. High School Graduate or equivalent  
  3. A CNA and successful completion of recognized resident care courses that encompass orientation, basic or modified training and specialty courses as specified in WAC 388-112.  
  4. Fulfill continuing education requirements as outlined in WAC 388-112.  
  5. Completion of GenCare’s Memory Care training. 
  6. Willingness to direct Vitality offerings and help keep residents meaningfully engaged. 
  7. Minimum fulfillment with Criminal Background and Fingerprint Checks and every two (2) years thereafter.  
  8. 2 Step TB  
  9. CPR/First Aid 
  10. HIV/AIDS Training  
  11. Food Handler’s Permit  
  12. Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds. 
  13. Ability and desire to work well people of all ages 
  14. Ability to work varied hours and shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. 
  15. Required to read, write and speak the English language fluently with ability to follow oral and written instructions.
