Job Location: IEA Kenosha Plant - Kenosha, WI 53144

Job Summary: The Sales Application Engineer uses engine performance data to size a radiator that will perform when it’s in the most extreme environments. Examines the application and selected unit to determine pricing that will meet profit goals.  When a radiator is ordered the Application Engineer relays the details of the order to the design team. The Engineer receives specific work assignments with limited supervision and resolves most problems independently or in concert with Company Corporate, Production or Engineering staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following with other duties assigned as necessary:

  • Prepares detailed technical quotations (e.g. sizing, fixture, tooling, product specification, and engineering requirements) and formal sales quotations (e.g. pricing, product specifying) for customers and outside sales representatives.
  • Reviews the technical specifications and documents of customers and prospects to determine desirability and suitability of IEA products to specific customer applications.
  • Analyses sales and customer data to identify industry trends, customer and Company needs, product performance deficiencies, etc.
  • Works in a safe manner always and ensures that all assigned areas and equipment are properly maintained and utilized efficiently.
  • Ensures that all work is performed in accordance with and adheres to IEA’s ISO and Quality standards.

  • Maximum lifting requirement (pounds):  10 (seldom).
  • Maximum moving requirement (pounds):  25 (seldom).
  • Maintaining physical condition necessary for the following:  Frequent standing, walking, or sitting; infrequent kneeling, crouching, stooping, squatting, twisting upper body, or climbing.
  • Working at heights off the ground up to:  Not applicable.
  • Vision requirements:  Close, distance, and peripheral vision; depth perception.
  • Travel:  Domestic and international travel (seldom, <10%)

Work Environment:

  • Work location(s):  Office; metal fabrication/assembly shop
  • Personal protective equipment requirement:  Safety glasses with side shields & Safety Toe Shoes when in shop areas.  Additional equipment as per job site/length of stay requirements of Customer.

Qualifications


Position Requirements:

  • Key skills, abilities, and knowledge: 
    • Working knowledge of heat transfer theory, radiator assembly, construction, and repair.
    • Knowledge of engines and how their systems interact and function.
    • Ability to read, understand and interpret technical documents from customers and shop.
    • Ability to build and maintain positive customer relationships (in person/phone/e-mail).
    • Ability to plan, organize and work on multiple orders simultaneously while staying detailed oriented.
    • Knowledge of technical product sales practices and techniques.
    • Ability to communicate (oral/written) with customers, employees, and others effectively.
    • Working knowledge of operating parameters of the Company’s products.
    • Knowledge of occupational hazards and the ability to follow safe work practices.
  • Experiential:  Up to three years of technical sales experience with engineered products, preferably heat transfer related.
  • Experiential: Office Suite and other relevant computer skills.
  • Educational:  Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is highly desirable. 
  • Certificates, Licenses, etc.:  Driver’s license; passport (for foreign travel as necessary).
