Position Overview:

Heartline Staffing, in partnership with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse for a high-acuity PCU Oncology assignment at James Cancer Hospital and Research in Columbus, Ohio. This role supports a mixed-acuity oncology unit providing PCU-level and Med-Surg care to complex cancer patients.

Schedule:

• Day or Night shift options available

• 3x12-hour shifts

• Day: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM

• Night: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

• Weekends vary based on unit needs

• No set or blocked scheduling

• Self-schedule requests accepted prior to final schedule posting

Compensation:

• Gross: $2,359 per week

• W2: $24.50 per hour

• Tax-Free Stipend: $1,477 per week

• Locals accepted at the same rate

Contract Details:

• Start Date: February 23, 2026

• Duration: 16 weeks

• Scheduling Type: Self-scheduling

• Orientation:

  – Week 1: Monday–Friday dayshift orientation

  – Week 2: 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor

Unit Overview:

• 18 James – Oncology Telemetry / PCU

• 36-bed unit with 24+ beds dedicated to PCU-level care

• High-acuity PCU with a small amount of Med-Surg

• Adult and geriatric population

• Pediatric patients are extremely rare and typically cared for by permanent staff

• Goal ratios:

  – PCU: 1:3

  – Med-Surg Telemetry: 1:4–1:5

Clinical Focus:

• Solid tumor oncology

• Orthopedic oncology

• Thoracic oncology

• Blood transfusions and IV antibiotics

• Chemotherapy and oncology-related emergencies

• Cytokine release syndrome

• Insulin and heparin drips

• Heavy focus on infection prevention and fall prevention

Requirements

• High-acuity PCU experience REQUIRED

• Oncology experience preferred but NOT required

• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required

• BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications required

• Epic charting experience required

• Ability to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity

• Previous travel experience preferred

• Valid compact or Ohio RN license required at time of submission

• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
