Travel Registered Nurse – PCU (High Acuity Oncology)

Position Overview:

Heartline Staffing, in partnership with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse for a high-acuity Progressive Care Unit (PCU) assignment at James Cancer Hospital and Research Institute in Columbus, Ohio. This role supports a complex oncology patient population in a fast-paced PCU/Telemetry environment.

Schedule:

• Day or Night shift options available

• 3x12-hour shifts

• Day: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM

• Night: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

• Rotating weekends and holidays

• Self-schedule requests submitted prior to final schedule posting

• First week orientation: Monday–Friday dayshift

• Second week: 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor

Compensation:

• Gross: $2,359 per week

• W2: $24.50 per hour

• Tax-Free Stipend: $1,477 per week

• Locals accepted at the same rate

Contract Details:

• Start Date: February 23, 2026

• Duration: 13 weeks

• Number of Openings: 1

• Orientation: 72 total hours

Unit Overview:

• Medical Oncology Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

• 36-bed oncology telemetry unit

• Over 24 beds dedicated to PCU-level care

• Adult and geriatric patient population

• Pediatric patients are extremely rare and covered by permanent staff

• High-acuity PCU with limited Med-Surg overflow

Patient Diagnoses:

• Solid tumors

• Orthopedic oncology

• Thoracic oncology

Clinical Focus:

• Oncology PCU patients

• Infection prevention and fall risk management

• Cardiac and telemetry monitoring

• Chemotherapy and blood product administration

• High-acuity PCU workflows

Requirements

• High-acuity PCU experience REQUIRED

• Oncology experience preferred but NOT required

• Minimum of 2 years RN experience required

• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required

• Epic charting experience required

• Ability to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity

• Previous travel experience preferred
