About the Role

Overview

Responsible for greeting patients in a friendly and professional manner, answering the telephone, scanning pertinent patient data into the electronic medical record, checking patients in and out, verifying patient insurance and referrals, and scheduling appointments for Maternal Fetal Medicine, Gynecology, Advanced Gynecologic Surgery and Urogynecology.

 

Responsibilities

Patient check-in and registration:

  • Check in and register patients.
  • Confirm and update patient registration information at each visit.
  • Scan insurance card and picture ID into EMR system at each visit.
  • Collect all co-pays and payments and complete cash journals daily.
  • Obtain authorizations and referrals from referring physician’s offices.
  • Answering telephone in accordance with Medical Group Standards.
  • Communicating with patients regarding self-pay agreements.
  • Complete EHR tasks in accordance with Medical Group Standards.
  • Invite patients to patient portal (MyChart) and update status in the EHR.
  • Re-invite and assist patients with MyChart issues/questions.
  • Monitor and resolve MyChart patient registration issues through EPIC work queues.
  • Perform pre-and post-registration work queue tasks in the days ahead and after appointments.
  •  

Scheduling:

  • Schedule future appointments, in-office surgical procedures, ultrasounds, cystoscopies, urodynamic testing per provider task
  • Ensure timely scheduling of incoming referrals
    • Identify the appropriate provider schedule
    • Contact the patient with date and time of appointment
    • Mail out new patient packets
  • Send tasks for visits needing prior authorization

Qualifications

RequiredExcellent written and verbal communication skills. The candidate must be a professional, customer service-oriented individual  PreferredExperience performing related functions in a medical group practice is preferred.  Previous front desk customer service experience will be considered.
