ICU/ Facility Float/ Registered Nurse / RN

7a-7:30p/ Part Time / 24 Hours per week

Job Summary:

  • The purpose of the facility based/operating unit (OU) float pool position is to provide clinical resources in a variety of patient care departments throughout an Emory Healthcare (EHC) operating unit/facility.
  • The float pool clinician expects to work in different clinical areas of an EHC facility based on skill set, patient volume, acuity, and the patient care and operational needs of said facility/OU.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Routinely uses acquired knowledge, theory, research, and experience to respond to changes in clinical situations.
  • Is a capable clinician who has acquired broad experience in caring for patients, and has developed a sound understanding about the care of a particular patient population
  • Is able to apply the Synergy Model for Care in practice, and use this knowledge to personalize care for each patient/family. Serves as a resource to lesser experienced nurses and to support staff. Under general supervision, demonstrates a thorough knowledge of therapeutic patient care, patient advocacy, clinical pathways/care maps, team dynamics, and hospital systems. Prioritizes nursing interventions for assigned group of patients.
  • Identifies complex patient problems related to symptoms, behavioral changes, abnormal diagnostic data and learning needs. Ensures continuity of care. Coordinates diagnostic procedures. Anticipates potential patient crises through continual evaluation of patient outcomes. May participate in quality improvement efforts. Serves as a resource for other registered nurses and support staff.
  • May function in the Charge Nurse role and make patient care assignments. Thoroughly documents all aspects of patient care, following established charting procedures. Participates in orientation of new staff and may serve as a preceptor. Performs related responsibilities as required

Qualification Requirements:

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Must have a valid, active, unencumbered nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 24 months of recent and relevant nursing experience within the past five years. JUDGEMENT: Incumbent may work under close supervision following established routines or assigned work with limited employee latitude. Employee may work under general supervision and receives general guidance on work priority with substantial employee latitude. Employee may work independently under the general direction of their leader. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: BLS required, ACLS, PALS, may also be required based on the clinical area of assignment and patient population
