About the Role

About the team

The Models and Ratings team provide the Bank with analytical insight through the use of predictive models that support financial decision making across the business, from pricing through to risk.

What you will be doing?

The primary purpose of this role is to lead the development, maintenance, and execution of mortgage models while driving customer and account behavioural analysis. You will also oversee the creation and upkeep of predictive models for customer behaviour and deliver actionable insights on customer and account trends.

 

This position holds overall accountability for the mortgage modelling and analytics delivered to the business by the Financial Modelling and Analysis function.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Developing and maintaining predictive models for customer behaviour related to account functionality and pricing, alongside conducting behavioural analysis
  • Leading the full lifecycle of mortgage models, including pricing elasticity, churn, retention, and behavioural modelling
  • Supporting the integration of models and analytical outputs into business processes and decision-making
  • Identify and implement data sources, toolkits, analytical techniques, and modelling methodologies for mortgage modelling and analytics
  • Delivering mortgage forecasting and scenario analysis to assist Treasury, and Finance with balance sheet planning through predictive insights
  • Providing strategic recommendations on mortgage funding costs, market competitiveness, and customer behaviour to optimise product strategy using analytics and modelling
  • Managing and developing a small team of analysts and modellers, embedding modern analytics tools and practices while fulfilling line management responsibilities
  • Engaging senior stakeholders (Treasury, Finance, Risk, Product) by presenting clear, actionable insights in key committees and working groups
  • Driving the adoption of models to improve efficiency and effectiveness across business processes, including collaboration with the Savings Product Team
  • Overseeing regular reporting on model insights and assurance, including provision adequacy, scorecard decision effectiveness, and broader model monitoring as highlighted by Model or Credit Committees

Do you have the skills?

  • Previous experience:
    • In a Modelling and Analytics role within financial services;
    • Developing and implementing models to analyse deposit accounts and customer behaviour;
    • Providing insight and analysis to senior stakeholders;
    • Working with stakeholders and presenting at meetings/committees; and
    • Line managing direct reports

 

  • Strong knowledge of how to build, test and validate models and the associated statistical techniques is essential

 

  • A degree level qualification in a numerical discipline is essential
