POSITION SUMMARY:
Designs, develops, and maintains electrical systems and embedded software for company products. Works closely with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware and software solutions. Provides electrical engineering support for manufacturing projects, improving processes and resolving technical issues related to tooling and test fixtures used in production. Applies knowledge of circuit design, embedded programming, and manufacturing processes to ensure product quality and efficiency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Design and develop electrical systems, schematics, and PCB layouts for new and existing products.
2. Write and maintain embedded code for microcontrollers, PLCs, or other platforms (C/C++, Visual Basic, etc.).
3. Develop and maintain embedded operating systems for company products, ensuring seamless integration with hardware and software components.
4. Collaborate with mechanical and software engineers to ensure seamless integration of systems.
5. Troubleshoot electrical design issues, improve production efficiency, and implement design changes to improve manufacturability.
6. Design electrical systems for tooling and test fixtures to support production and quality assurance processes.
7. Communicate with vendors and internal teams to obtain technical information and resolve issues.
8. Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and government regulations.
9. Maintain electrical and software engineering documentation and databases.
10. Assist in establishing project timelines and planning for maximum throughput.
11. Participate in product testing plans and oversee prototype evaluations.
12. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with all safety and company procedures, rules, and regulations to protect themselves and others from known and expected hazards including the use of appropriate PPE.
13. Travel to customer sites or vendors for technical support or project coordination.
14. Represent the company at industry-related conferences or associations as directed.
15. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
2. Experience with circuit design, PCB layout, and electrical testing.
3. Working knowledge of embedded programming (C/C++, Visual Basic, or similar).
4. Experience supporting manufacturing processes and troubleshooting production equipment preferred.
5. Familiarity with developing and maintaining embedded operating systems, including real-time OS environments preferred.
6. Understanding of wireless communication technologies and protocols preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. Strong understanding of electrical/wireless systems and coding principles.
2. Proficiency in Electrical CAD software for creating accurate schematics and layouts.
3. Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues effectively.
4. Good interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
5. Effective time management and organizational skills.
6. Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning through workshops, publications, and networking.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Light to medium work, exerting up to 20 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.
· Lifting, climbing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, pushing pulling, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, feeling, fingering, repetitive motions etc.
· Occasional overnight travel as needed.
