The Communications and Marketing Support Staff position supports the Superintendent of Communications and Marketing with promotional efforts for park district programs, facilities, and events. This role is primarily responsible for capturing photos and videos throughout the summer season and helping turn that content into engaging marketing materials, especially for social media.
This position is ideal for someone interested in communications, marketing, or digital media who enjoys being out in the community and attending events.
Essential Duties
- Capture high-quality photos and videos of park district programs, facilities, special events, and community activities throughout the summer.
- Attend scheduled programs and events to document activities, with most hours occurring in the afternoons and at least one weekend day per week.
- Assist with the creation of short-form video content, including Instagram Reels and other social media videos.
- Assist with writing, editing, and proofreading marketing and promotional materials as needed.
- Assist with printed and digital promotions at programs and special events.
- Assist with the creation and execution of social media content and campaigns.
- Assist with the creation of displays, bulletin boards, and other promotional materials.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with the Superintendent of Communications and Marketing, staff, program participants, and park and facility guests.
- Communicate matters of importance to the Superintendent of Communications and Marketing in a timely manner.
- Follow customer service standards and procedures related to communications and marketing operations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Schedule
- Seasonal summer position starting the first week of May, 2026
- Approximately 20 hours per week
- General schedule includes afternoons and at least one weekend day
- A full schedule of anticipated programs and events will be provided prior to the initial interview to confirm availability

Requirements
- Experience or strong interest in communications, marketing, social media, photography, or videography.
- Experience creating Instagram Reels or similar short-form video content is required.
- Experience with Canva, Adobe InDesign, and Photoshop is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
- Basic writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Ability to operate a digital camera and video equipment is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time independently.
- Must be reliable and able to attend scheduled programs and events.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Valid Illinois Driver’s License required
