About the Role

Description

 

  • Ensure dining room prepared for patrons: tables set; supplies stocked prior to the beginning of service. 
  • Work with kitchen and attendant staff to create positive dining experience for guests. 
  • Greet guests in a genuine manner. 
  • Provide guests with menus; suggest menu items; advise of daily specials; and provide information and/or answer questions regarding menu items. 
  • Take guests orders and repeat it to ensure accuracy. 
  • Request to check identifications of ALL guests ordering alcohol to ensure of legal age – NO EXCEPTIONS. 
  • Monitor and ensure that no guest is “over served” – understanding that they may have consumed alcohol prior to arriving at your restaurant. 
  • Serve alcohol responsibly. 
  • Communicate orders to kitchen staff. 
  • Monitor table to ascertain any additional service needs and to communicate order status. 
  • Monitor kitchen to ensure timely preparation of order. 
  • Inspect order prior to leaving kitchen to ensure accuracy and quality (including presentation) – if it’s not right, do not serve it. 
  • Serve orders in a timely fashion. 
  • Maintain table settings by removing finished courses and replenishing utensils as needed. 
  • Upsell additional offerings such as beverages, appetizers and/or desserts. 
  • Enter orders into POS system, present guest check, process payment. 
  • Thank the guest in a genuine manner and invite a return visit. 
  • Clean tables and remove dishes after party leaves. 
  • Carry soiled dishes to dishwasher. 
  • Ensure availability of supplies; clean dishes, flatware, glasses, etc.; complete assigned sidework.
  • Must be familiar with POS system TOAST.
  • Must work quickly and effeciently.

 

  • Inform supervisor of any equipment that needs repair. 
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness within the food service area. 
  • Ensure that work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable and attractive manner, clearly marked with caution or safety signs as required. 
  • Ensure work areas are free of hazardous objects and all equipment, and tools and supplies are properly stored. 
  • Maintain resident confidentiality. 
  • Treat residents and guests with kindness, dignity and respect. 
  • Know and comply with Residents’ Rights rules. 
  • Ensure that an adequate level of department supplies is maintained and advise the manager about supply needs. 
  • Assist in the maintenance of an atmosphere of warmth and personal interest, ensuring a positive, calm environment that is both aspirational and inspirational throughout the campus. 
  • Assist in the maintenance of operating environment that assures consistent, high level of resident & guest satisfaction. 
  • Attend and participate in orientation, training, in-service educational activities and staff meetings as assigned. 
  • Complete any other tasks, assignments, projects or requests from management.  


Requirements

 

  • Must be 18 years of age. 
  • Must read, write, speak and understand English. 
  • Previous server experience preferred. 
  • Food Handler’s and/or Alcohol Service Permits as required by regulation/law. 
  • Have a demonstrated affinity for and ability to work within the structure that includes active, passionate residents, enhanced living residents and inspired living residents. 
  • Possess the ability to deal tactfully with associates, residents, family members, visitors and the general public.
