Meet Boston's Destination Services team is seeking a dynamic Specialist, Meetings & Events to assist groups who are confirmed for meetings and events booked in Boston with the services they need to support their meeting.
The individual in this role will report to the Vice President, Destination Services | Meetings & Events, and work closely with managers, specialists, and sales team within the department. As a team, they will be a critical player in the service provisions for groups and organizations who are holding meetings and events in the Boston region. The goal is to make sure that there is the potential of repeat bookings.
Requirements
- Experience in hospitality/tourism services is required, comfort interacting with the public is a plus
- Solid working knowledge of Boston and a passion for hospitality
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational, collaboration, and time management skills
- Additional training and certification in sales, meetings/events planning will be considered an advantage
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of Adobe Create Suite products preferred
- Self-sufficient with the ability to work independently and balance work-life and job responsibilities
- Excellent aptitude for professionalism, responsiveness, and follow-up
- Exceptional problem solving skills & a "customer first" attitude are required
- College degree preferred
Responsibilities Include:
• Distributing Service Requests thought the Meet Boston lead system, The Hub on MeetBoston.com for group business booked into Boston
• Retrieve RFPs via CVENT and MeetBoston.com
• Conduct personalized and efficient site tours of Boston to assist the planner in gathering and evaluating data on hotels, meeting facilities, restaurants and other location appropriate for the organization’s needs
• Provide groups with publications (guidebooks and maps) and materials (photos, B-Roll, Boston text, DVD) and Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, Linked In) to assist with promoting their meeting in Boston.
• Work with city officials on personalized welcome letters and permits.
• Provide information on advertising and marketing opportunities in the city.
• Research and provide information on CSR programs available that fit with the client’s mission.
• Additional services as requested by clients.
Job Type:
- Full-time, Monday to Friday; some weekend and evening work required.
- Currently a hybrid position, 2 days remote, 3 days in the office
