About the Role

Description

 Lifestar Emergency Medical Services, LLC is a Critical Care Paramedic level ambulance service based in West Bend, Wisconsin. With stations located in West Bend, Slinger, Port Washington, Columbus/Marshall, Waupun, Adams County, and Southern Winnebago County we offer a vast coverage area encompassing Washington, Ozaukee, Columbia, Dodge, Fond du Lac, Adams, and Winnebago counties. We specialize in 911 response, prehospital transports, interfacility transports and special event stand-by. We are dedicated to proactive, in-house training for our EMS staff.


We are currently seeking a full time first shift Ambulance Dispatch Assistant to work out of our West Bend business office. This full time position works Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. This position acts as a backup to ambulance and paratransit dispatchers. Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Answer incoming emergent and non-emergent phone calls on a multi-line phone system
  • Gather appropriate medical, personal, and insurance information from callers
  • Determine level of medical care needed by assessing information received from callers
  • Efficiently dispatch emergency vehicles and personnel to emergent and non-emergent calls using critical thinking to ensure the proper use of resources
  • Verify insurance coverage and provide basic insurance information to Lifestar clients
  • Efficiently and properly communicate via radio and phone
  • Document transport information in a detailed and timely manner. Prepare reports as requested.

  • Ability to multi-task under stressful situations
  • Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to make split-second decisions
  • Ability to work independently
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Competency with Microsoft products, Windows and web based applications, and multi-line phone systems
  • A desire to learn
  • At least one year of Dispatching experience in any industry
