Job Summary
The Non-Certified Surgical Technologist functions as a member of the perioperative team assisting the physician with the instrumentation, supplies and equipment needed to perform the surgical procedure. S/he works under the direct supervision of a registered nurse and assists with organization and management of departmental equipment, supplies and instrumentation.

Requirements
- High School graduate. Graduate of Surgical Technologist program after successfully completing on-the-job training.
- Certification as Surgical Technologist is desirable.
- Following a formal orientation, proficiency in the assigned clinical area is expected within six months.
- Cross training is required.
Working Conditions
- Requires frequent walking, standing, sitting, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, feeling, talking, hearing and moderate (exerting/lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly) to heavy lifting (exerting/lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently or up to 20 pounds constantly) of clients and equipment.
- Risks exposure to communicable or infectious disease.
- Subject to inside environmental conditions (protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature change) and to atmospheric conditions (one or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases or poor ventilation).
- Failure to comply with standards of nursing care of HRMC may result in consequences to continued employment.
