We have an opportunity for a motivated Water Serviceperson to join Downer’s team based in Dunedin.
In this role, you’ll work independently or as part of a crew to deliver general water utility infrastructure works safely, efficiently and to specification. You’ll contribute to the successful completion of contracts by optimising resources, meeting productivity targets and ensuring customer satisfaction, while maintaining Downer’s strong Zero Harm culture.
You’ll plan and complete daily tasks, operate plant and equipment, maintain accurate records and documentation, and support supervisors and foremen to ensure work is completed on time and to the required standard. This role may also involve leading tasks or small teams, liaising with clients, residents and the public, and supporting the maintenance and upkeep of plant and equipment.

You’re a practical and reliable team player who takes pride in delivering quality work and working safely. You’re organised, safety-focused and capable of working independently or leading small crews when required.
You will bring:
- Experience in the general construction industry (water or utilities experience an advantage)
- Minimum Class 1 & 2 driver licence, with WTR endorsements (Class 4 an advantage)
- Experience operating plant and equipment safely and efficiently
- A proven ability to work constructively within a team
- Strong commitment to health, safety, environmental and Zero Harm practices
- Good verbal and written communication skills, with plan reading skills an advantage
- An organised, systematic approach and strong attention to detail
