Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Analyst

Company: VENESCO, LLC (SSIVen JV)
Location: Pentagon, Arlington, VA (On-site / In Office)
Schedule: Full-Time
Hours: 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday, 0730–1500
(Alternate hours may be required as specified by the Government)

Start Date: Immediate (two-week notice acceptable)
Salary Range: $64,000 – $65,000 annually
Clearance Requirement:

  • Active Secret clearance required
     
  • TS/SCI preferred
     

Position Overview

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Analyst will provide advisory and assistance services to the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force (SAF), Administration and Management, Department of the Air Force Governance Division, Information Management Access Branch.

This role supports Headquarters Department of the Air Force operations by managing and executing Command-level FOIA and Privacy Act (PA) programs, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Air Force directives. The analyst will be responsible for processing, tracking, and closing FOIA/PA requests efficiently and accurately.


Requirements

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the Headquarters Department of the Air Force FOIA and Privacy Act (PA) Programs
     
  • Process and track FOIA/PA requests from intake through final disposition
     
  • Ensure compliance with FOIA, PA, Air Force directives, and public law
     
  • Interpret and apply complex laws, regulations, and policies related to information access
     
  • Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gather and review responsive documents
     
  • Review records for disclosure, redaction, and release determinations
     
  • Prepare written correspondence, reports, and responses to FOIA/PA requests
     
  • Conduct research and analysis related to the review and declassification of classified records
     
  • Negotiate with submitters and requestors to clarify requests and facilitate release decisions
     
  • Review administrative audits and Inspector General (IG) reports and recommend corrective actions
     
  • Work closely with SAF/IG and maintain strong professional working relationships
     
  • Close an average of 15–20 FOIA/PA cases per month
     
  • Ensure all requests meet intake requirements and statutory deadlines
     

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience supporting FOIA and Privacy Act Programs
     
  • Strong working knowledge of Privacy Act exemptions
     
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex federal laws and regulations
     
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
     
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
     
  • Ability to manage deadlines and multiple cases simultaneously
     
  • Active Secret clearance
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • TS/SCI clearance
     
  • Prior military or Department of Defense experience
     
  • Experience supporting Headquarters-level or Command-level FOIA programs
