The Cook prepares and cooks a variety of foods according to menus, dietary needs, and portion requirements. Ensures food safety, sanitation, kitchen cleanliness, equipment maintenance, inventory management, and adherence to health codes.
- Cook prepares and cook items as per menus and dietary needs.
- Cook ensures meat, fish, and poultry are cooked to safe temperatures.
- Cook follows recipes accurately.
- Clean and maintain cooking equipment and utensils.
- Ensure kitchen equipment and work areas are clean and functional.
- Adhere to food safety and NY State sanitation standards.
- Maintain food usage and expenditure records.
- Inventory supplies and equipment to ensure proper stock levels.
- Set up workstations with required ingredients and equipment.
Requirements
- Ability to perform a variety of job responsibilities including, but not limited to the operation of equipment and preparation of food.
- Stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull and move a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Minimum High School Diploma (or equivalent).
- Minimum 1 years’ experience as a cook in a health care setting
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible.
- Exemplary customer service skills.
