Heavy Equipment Operator – Wheel Loader + Excavator

Description

Grab N’ Grow, part of the family-owned Soiland Company (serving Sonoma County since 1962), is hiring a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator with proven, full-time experience on Wheel Loaders (equivalent to CAT 972K) and mid-sized Excavators (equivalent to CAT 330) - experience on BOTH required.

Position Overview

To be considered, your resume must clearly demonstrate 3+ years of recent experience (within the past 5 years) on both pieces of equipment in a similar soil-production environment.

• Safely operate an Excavator (CAT 330 or equivalent), and Wheel Loader (CAT 972K or equivalent).
• Mix, rotate, transport, and stockpile materials.
• Maintain alertness to audio and visual indicators to ensure timely, safe, and accurate equipment operation.
• Perform equipment inspections, routine maintenance, and minor repairs.
• Support plant and yard upkeep, maintaining a safe, clean, and productive work environment.
• Adhere to all safety regulations, site policies, and standard operating procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule & Compensation

• Location: Grab N’ Grow – 2759 Llano Road, Santa Rosa, CA
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM start (8 hrs/day + occasional OT & Saturdays are required)
• Pay: $27 - $30/hour (based on experience)
• Status: Full-time, hourly, non-exempt

• No relocation, housing, mileage, or vehicle assistance is provided. Candidates must live within commuting distance or relocate at their own expense.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 3+ years of recent (within the past 5 years) heavy equipment operation experience on the following 2 pieces of equipment: Excavator (CAT 330 or equivalent), and Wheel Loader (CAT 972K or equivalent).
• Ability to frequently climb into and out of equipment throughout the workday.
• Ability to work at heights while properly harnessed for fall protection.
• Strong communication skills; must be able to speak and understand English.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver consistent, high-quality work.
• Situational awareness and ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently around other people, vehicles, and objects.

Physical Requirements

This is an outdoor position requiring regular exposure to weather, dust, fumes, and chemicals. Duties involve:

• Regularly climbing into/out of heavy equipment and operating motorized heavy equipment for essential functions.
• Sitting for extended periods.
• Standing and walking for extended periods.
• Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing ladders or stairs.
• Working on elevated platforms with proper fall protection.
• Pushing, pulling, and moving moderate to heavy objects.
• Operating electrical and mechanical equipment.
