The Right of Way Designer will produce mandated documents for land acquisition in construction projects and perform project research and title work interpretation. They will also prepare legal descriptions and communicate with various stakeholders.

Department: Survey
Reports to: Department Manager
Education: College-Level Courses in Land Surveying
Registration: INDOT Right of Way Plan Development Certified
Experience: Not less than 3 years in Land Surveying or Right of Way Engineering
Duties:
· Produce Federal, State, and Local mandated documents required for Land Acquisition in pending construction projects
· Perform project research, review, and interpret title work
· Prepare legal descriptions, right of way plans, right of way plats, area computations, calculation sheets, and stakeouts
· Interpret and review Location Control Route Survey Plats and transportation design plans
· Communicate with field crews and office staff to provide quality services
· Communicate with clients, other consultants, and government officials for project-related items
· Maintain confidentiality of information regarding clients and company practices
· Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Skills:
· Able to work independently, with support from the Department Manager or other Survey staff
· Possess good communication skills
· Able to work within a “team concept.”
· Proficient in the use of the INDOT Right of Way Engineering Manual
· Working knowledge of the INDOT Design Manual – Part III Location Surveys
· Working knowledge of the State of Indiana Administrative Code – Rule 12
· Working knowledge of the INDOT Design Process
· Working knowledge of the INDOT Land Acquisition Process
· Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and Excel
· Working knowledge of Civil 3D and Carlson software
· Ability to meet deadlines
· Expertise in geometry and trigonometry
Physical Requirements:
· Able to work seated for 9 or more hours per workday
· Able to work 40 or more hours per work week, as needed
Other Requirements:
· Possess a valid Indiana driver's license
· Agree to abide by the personnel policies identified in the Company Policy
· Designated as a flexible position as defined in the Company Policy
