Description
The Quality Engineer at Hyper Solutions is responsible for ensuring that product quality expectations are consistently met across a contract manufacturing environment. This role defines and enforces production quality standards, develops inspection and control processes, and partners closely with manufacturing partners to ensure compliance with Hyper’s quality requirements and customer specifications.
Serving as a key liaison between Hyper and its contract manufacturers, this position drives quality system maturity, supports new product introduction, leads customer quality processes, and ensures robust monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement across the supply chain.
Core Responsibilities
- Define and implement production quality standards, specifications, control plans, and inspection procedures for contract manufacturing partners.
- Establish key quality compliance factors and ensure adherence to Hyper’s quality requirements and customer expectations.
- Lead inspection, testing, and evaluation methods to verify product and process reliability.
- Own customer quality processes including complaint management (CQM), returns (RMA), and corrective action.
- Collect, analyze, and report quality data; maintain Quality KPIs and performance dashboards.
- Assess supplier and manufacturing partner Quality Management Systems (QMS) and support system maturity improvements.
- Ensure incoming, in-process, and final product inspections effectively detect deviations from standards.
- Support new product development and creation of quality-related SOPs and control documentation.
- Review and audit manufacturing partners through on-site assessments and quality system evaluations.
Additional Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain quality documentation, reports, and order-level quality records.
- Partner with Supply Chain, Engineering, and Operations across the value stream to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, 5S, and error-proofing methodologies.
- Support testing and validation activities to ensure compliance with electrical and product performance requirements.
- Maintain communication with suppliers, partners, and internal stakeholders regarding quality performance and expectations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in quality engineering or quality assurance, including oversight of third-party or contract manufacturing.
- Strong experience working with ERP systems and quality data management.
- Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems and ISO-based standards.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, 5S, and root-cause methodologies.
- Electrical testing knowledge or experience in electrical manufacturing environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar professional certification.
- Experience with ISO-based Quality Management Systems.
- Background in contract manufacturing quality assurance.
- Experience with PFMEA, error-proofing, and structured problem-solving methodologies.

Location
Onsite in Richmond, VA, or remote depending on candidate location and business needs.
Compensation
The anticipated starting salary range for this role is $90,000 - $120,000 per year. Actual salary varies due to factors that may include but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications and location. This hire will be eligible for discretionary bonus or incentive compensation. Variable compensation may depend on various factors, such as individual and organizational performance.
