COMPANY DESCRIPTION: Union Rescue Mission (URM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. We are dedicated to serving men, women, and children experiencing homelessness and providing comprehensive emergency and long-term services to help them escape the dangerous streets of Skid Row. POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Corporate Partnerships, Events and Volunteer Services is responsible for leading Union Rescue Mission’s (URM) strategic planning and execution of all corporate partnerships, events and volunteer initiatives. This role ensures that each partnership, event and volunteer engagement opportunity reflects the Mission’s Christ-centered values, advances community partnerships, supports fundraising goals, and strengthens relationships with donors, churches, and community supporters. The Director oversees a team responsible for organizing impactful experiences—from large-scale fundraising events and community outreach activities to daily volunteer operations that engage thousands of individuals in URM’s ministry of life transformation.
The director will work with internal teams, external consultants, volunteer advisory groups, and partner organizations to achieve specific goals and deliverables. This position supports the Philanthropy Department in developing and implementing new/special projects and works collaboratively across the organization with colleagues in all departments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Corporate Partnerships
- Strategy & Development: Create and implement strategic plans for corporate giving, identifying new opportunities for volunteerism, sponsorships, grants, employee giving, and cause marketing.
- Cultivation & Solicitation: Build and maintain a portfolio of corporate prospects, cultivate relationships, and solicit contributions to meet fundraising goals.
- Relationship Management: Serve as the primary contact for corporate partners, ensuring strong loyalty through exceptional service, problem-solving, and delivering on partnership promises.
- Internal Collaboration: Work with internal teams to align partnership activities with overall organizational priorities and deliver partner benefits.
- Reporting & Stewardship: Track progress, report on ROI, and steward partners to ensure continued engagement and renewal.
Event Leadership
- Plan, organize, and execute all major URM events including fundraising galas, community outreach programs, donor appreciation gatherings, holiday drives, graduations, and special campaigns.
- Develop and manage annual event calendars, timelines, budgets, and goals in collaboration with Development, Communications, and Program teams.
- Ensure all events communicate URM’s mission and impact while engaging donors, partners, and volunteers in meaningful ways.
- Oversee event logistics including venue coordination, vendor management, sponsorship fulfillment, guest experience, and post-event reporting.
- Track event metrics and analyze results to continuously enhance engagement and return on investment.
- Serve as a visible representative of URM at public and donor-facing events.
Volunteer Services
- Lead URM’s volunteer strategy to recruit, train, and engage individuals, church groups, corporate teams, and community partners.
- Collaborate with Program and Operations leaders to identify volunteer needs across URM’s sites (Skid Row, Hope Gardens, Angeles House, and others).
- Ensure a high-quality volunteer experience that aligns with URM’s mission and values.
- Develop and implement volunteer policies, procedures, orientation materials, and recognition programs.
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer activity and produce impact reports for internal and external audiences.
- Create opportunities for volunteers to grow in their understanding of URM’s ministry and the lives being transformed.
- Conduct other tasks and projects assigned by the VP of Philanthropy.
- Commitment to URM mission, vision, and core values.
- Encourage guests in their faith and growth in Jesus Christ.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES
- Supervise event and volunteer services staff, interns, and volunteers.
- Partner closely with Philanthropy, Marketing, and Program departments to align strategies for donor engagement and community involvement.
- Provide strategic input into URM’s overall outreach and engagement efforts.
- Ensure compliance with safety and liability requirements for all volunteer and event activities.

- Manual dexterity required for occasional reaching and lifting of small objects and operating office equipment.
- Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Able to participate in activities related to event decoration, set up and tear down.
- Able to lift at least 30lbs.

Requirements
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSURES:
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, hospitality, communications, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in corporate partnerships, event planning, volunteer management, or community engagement (nonprofit experience strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated success in leading large-scale events and building volunteer programs.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Excellent relationship-building abilities with donors, sponsors, and community partners.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required by events and volunteer activities.
- Proficiency in event and volunteer management systems (e.g., Salesforce, VolunteerHub, Raiser’s Edge).
- Commitment to the Christian faith and alignment with Union Rescue Mission’s Statement of Faith and Core Values.
