Technical Solutions Architect

Description

GXM is seeking a part-time Technical Solutions Architect to support client opportunities through technical solutioning, proposal writing, and the development of innovative concepts. This role will bridge operational needs, mission requirements, and modern technologies to shape technically credible and compliant solutions aligned with GXM capabilities.

The individual will work closely with GXM leadership, capture managers, project leads, and technical team members to help review, architect and shape winning solutions for client challenges/requirements. The focus of this role is not direct sales, but solution development, technical solutioning, client engagements, requirements review, technical solution writing, and proposal support for strategic opportunities.

Requirements

Solutioning & Technical Concept Development

• Support special projects and capture efforts by developing software-based solutions aligned with DoW mission needs
• Translate customer requirements, CONOPS, and problem statements into clear, feasible technical approaches
• Provide technical expertise surrounding DoW Cloud platforms such as CloudOne, COSMOS, Azure for Gov, etc.
• Provide insight into current and emerging PaaS, SaaS, ITaaS, solutions that are currently or could potentially be utilized by the DoW and its partners
• Deep understanding of current technology vacuums and bubbles in industry and designing solutions with these in mind
• Turn-key subject matter expert (SME) in areas that are currently in focus by GXM and the DoW to ensure proper alignment with organizational goals and priorities
• Collaborate with technical leads and engineers to define system architectures, tools, and development strategies
• Contribute to solution narratives covering architecture, cybersecurity, DevSecOps, data flows, software engineering and system integration
• Review identified client challenges for technical feasibility
• Lead the technical solutioning activity according to defined schedules and milestones
• Maintaining a “big picture” awareness of modern technology approaches, changing client technical challenges and policies that impact technical solutioning
• Ensure technical solutions comply with identified tools, processes, cybersecurity standards, impact level designations, and modern commercial trends that apply.
• Ensure proposed technical solutions can be implemented within stated schedules and other identified limitations
• Provide technical write-ups that outline the solutions, addressing all identified requirements
• Review product designs and pathways to provide creative options that help modernize and better position products to solve client challenges
• Review ongoing technology projects for lessons learned that can be applied to future technology solutioning and delivery
• Participate in internal weekly planning and review meetings
• Travel to attend client meetings to engage with technical engineering teams to identify technical challenges and/or position technology products and services for adoption by the client
• Respond to requests for information (RFIs)/request for proposals (RFPs)/White papers, etc. from government stakeholders as needed (occasionally outside of traditional working hours)
• Architect proposed plans and lead discussions with team for major development activities, including consideration of backend, frontend, and middleware solutioning
• Use knowledge of third-party software, COTS and GOTS to improve solutioning activities

Proposal & Technical Writing

• Support proposal development efforts including RFI, RFP analysis, compliance matrices, and technical volume writing
• Draft and refine proposal for technical approach, management approach (as applicable), and innovation narratives
• Ensure proposal language aligns with DoW expectations, evaluation criteria, and compliance requirements
• Support responses to RFIs, RFPs, white papers, and capability statements

Business Development Support

• Assist leadership with shaping and refining opportunity strategies for targeted DoW programs
• Participate in solutioning sessions, color team reviews, and internal proposal reviews
• Help identify discriminators, strengths, and value propositions for GXM’s technical solutions
• Maintain awareness and understanding of DoW technology trends, policies, software development best practices, and acquisition approaches

Collaboration & Communication

• Coordinate with internal stakeholders including business development, program management, and engineering teams
• Clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Travel to support meetings with government stakeholders as needed to clarify technical requirements or solution concepts

Required Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen
• Ability to obtain or currently hold a Secret clearance (or higher)
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Experience supporting DoW or federal government software development efforts
• Strong technical writing skills with experience contributing to proposals or technical documentation
• Understanding of modern technology and solution design involving AI, Agile, DevSecOps, cloud, cybersecurity, quality assurance
• Ability to translate complex technical ideas into clear, compelling written content
• Ability to drive resolution of complex technical problems associated with system development, performance, integration, and implementation
• Proven ability to coordinate system changes across multiple platforms and contribute to development of comprehensive plans
• Proven ability to explain technical challenges and solutions to non-technical customers

Desired Qualifications

• Experience supporting capture or proposal efforts for DoW contracts
• Familiarity with DoW acquisition processes and proposal evaluation criteria
• Experience with software architectures involving web, mobile, data, or integration platforms
• Experience with AI/ML, Data Lakes, Data Science, etc.
• Experience with Government cloud solutions (COSMOS, CloudOne, Azure, AWS, etc.
• Experience with on-prem to cloud migrations, cloud security, cloud applications, etc.
• Experience with orchestrations frameworks such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc.
• Experience with customer focused design and agile methodologies
• Experience with Linux, Windows, MacOS, Android, and iOS applications, security, and integration
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMWare
• Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., RMF, DISA STIGs, Zero Trust)
• Experience with DoW Joint Services’ air mission planning processes and procedures and/or counter-UAS missions
• Experience with product development

Time Commitment & Flexibility

• Part-time, hourly role with flexible scheduling based on project and proposal needs
• Workload may increase temporarily during client engagement periods or active proposal periods
