Position Overview


Oak Ridge Industries is currently seeking an experienced Technical Sales professional with a strong understanding of machining, fabrication, and industrial equipment. This role works closely with our engineering, machining, fabrication, and field service teams to scope projects, develop solutions, and deliver practical, cost-effective results for our customers.

This position may be remote or a combination of remote and in-house, depending on experience and location. While some of the work can be performed remotely, periodic time in the shop and at customer sites is essential to understand applications, support accurate quoting, and maintain strong internal and external relationships.

Key Responsibilities


  • Work directly with customers to understand equipment issues, repair needs, and custom manufacturing requirements
  • Visit customer sites as needed to assess applications, operating conditions, and constraints
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, machinists, fabricators, and field teams to develop solutions
  • Prepare estimates and quotations, including material, machining, fabrication, and labor considerations
  • Review customer drawings, prints, and documentation to provide accurate quoting and project definition
  • Serve as the primary customer contact throughout the sales and project lifecycle
  • Coordinate internally to ensure smooth handoff from sales to engineering and production
  • Create and support ongoing customer relationships and identify opportunities for repeat or expanded work

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Business preferred
  • Equivalent hands-on industrial or technical sales experience considered
  • Experience in industrial sales, technical sales, or applications engineering within machining, fabrication, manufacturing, and industrial plants
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, fabrication methods, and industrial equipment
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both customers and internal teams
  • Comfortable working in shops, plants, and field environments as required
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a remote or hybrid setting
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on practical, buildable solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities and projects simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
