The Davis Community is a 501(c)3 organization located in Wilmington, North Carolina. Founded in 1963 the 50+ acre campus has grown from a single nursing home to now include the Health Care Center, a skilled nursing facility, Champions Assisted Living, the Rehabilitation & Wellness Pavilion, The Cottages and The Residences Independent Living, and Davis Health and Wellness at Cambridge Village of Wilmington. The Rehabilitation & Wellness Pavilion features 20 private rooms for short-term rehabilitation and is also home to a membership-based health club for seniors over the age of 55. The Wellness Center boasts the latest fitness equipment as well as a warm, saltwater pool for exercise and therapy. The more than 30 physical, occupational, and speech therapists are part of the skilled nursing and medical team providing inpatient and outpatient services to residents and guests from the community. About the Role

Description

 The Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations and occupancy of the Cornelia Nixon Davis, Inc. Independent Living Community to include financial management; business planning; development, implementation, evaluation, and improvement of program services; management of staff; and delivery of high-quality services to Residents and their families. The Executive Director, in addition to being responsible for the operations and occupancy of the community, is required to proactively communicate with the CEO and Board regarding any situation that might pose a threat to the community in any way.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  

Management/Financial:

  1. Maintains ongoing compliance with appropriate local, state, federal, regulatory, and/or accrediting body standards.
  2. Ensures that the Community is prepared for inspection by regulatory agencies through regular auditing and updating of Community policies and procedures, medical records documentation, monitoring of environmental standards, etc.
  3. Maintains monthly financial reports and provides explanation for variances.
  4. Oversees departmental budgets and provides guidance to department heads on how to meet budgetary guidelines.
  5. Ensures accounts receivables are collected on a timely basis.
  6. Optimizes all opportunities to generate revenue and ancillary revenue.
  7. Maintains and increases occupancy in accordance with budget.
  8. Actively promotes staff participation and involvement in the day-to-day operations and decision making of the Community.
  9. Promotes team building through participation and/or leadership at regular staff meetings.
  10. Provides ongoing support, direction, supervision, and feedback regarding job performance of all staff. 
  11. Communicates with team members to ensure they are fully informed regarding any questions that might be asked by residents and their families, as well as prospective Residents and their families.
  12. Assists in recruitment of staff.
  13. Assures that all staff files are created and maintained properly. 
  14. Coordinates evaluation process reviews all evaluations and completes evaluations for all department heads.
  15. Manages disciplinary process throughout the Community.
  16. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, maintaining personal and professional networks and participating in professional organizations. 
  17. Performs other duties as assigned by the CEO. 

Resident Services:

  1. Assures high-quality services and upkeep of amenities as desired by Residents.
  2. Works with The Director of Sales & Marketing in coordination of move-in process to ensure leases and all move-in paperwork is complete with hospitality program carried out.
  3. Responds to family, resident, and team member requests in a timely manner.
  4. Maintains competitive market analysis data and maintains a detailed competitor comparative analysis (including rates, unit sizes, services, and amenities).
  5. Ensures that the overall Community makes a positive first impression.
  6. Works to resolve any Community presentation issues.
  7. Maintains or grows occupancy to maximum levels.
  8. Works collaboratively with department heads to emphasize the team’s role in sales and participation in the Community Marketing Action Plan and Sales Action Plan.
  9. Assigns Manager on Duty for weekend coverage as scheduled.

Sales/Marketing:

1. Represents the Community in public settings.

2. Works within the local community promoting the Cornelia Nixon Davis, Inc. Independent Living Community.

3. Ensures use of Sherpa within the Community is timely and accurate.

4. Able to generate leads and helps to close sales.

5. Drive the sales process during the pre-opening period with The Director of Sales & Marketing

Compliance and Safety:

  1. Enforces OSHA regulations and safety procedures.
  2. Ensures full compliance with all laws and regulations
  3. Follows all emergency procedures.
  4. Understands the safety policies and procedures.

Investigates and reviews all on-site injuries 

Requirements


Education: Prefer a bachelor’s degree in Related Field.

Licensure/Certification: None 

Experience: Minimum of five years in independent living operations, preferably as part of a campus.
