About the Role

Job Title: Produce Clerk

Job Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Produce Manager, Store Manager

Job Summary:

As a Produce Clerk at The Golden Hog, you will be responsible for maintaining the quality, freshness, and presentation of fruits and vegetables in the store. This role ensures that the produce department is clean, fully stocked, and organized while providing excellent customer service. The Produce Clerk plays an essential role in creating an inviting shopping experience by delivering fresh, safe, and appealing produce to customers.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stock, rotate, and display produce items according to company standards.
  • Inspect produce for quality, freshness, and proper pricing.
  • Assist customers with product selection, inquiries, and special requests.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the produce department, including coolers and storage areas.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs to management.
  • Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures.
  • Set up promotional displays and signage in the produce department.
  • Remove damaged, spoiled, or expired items promptly.
  • Assist with unloading, receiving, and checking produce deliveries.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in grocery, retail, or food handling is a plus.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of produce varieties and handling preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not mandatory.

Schedule:

Your standard work schedule will be five days per week, with two days off scheduled based on operational needs. Flexibility is required, as you may occasionally be asked to work on holidays or additional days to support special events.
