CareVet is offering a guaranteed base and bonus combination of $200k in your first year with Our Family Vet as a full time DVM team member. This opportunity is for an experienced veterinarian and full time doctor who is looking to be part of this mixed animal (90% small), hospital located in Kilgore, TX.  In addition to our customizable compensation package, this position offers a production bonus plan, clinical support, personalized 1:1 career coaching, schedule flexibility, 401k match, access to our vacation plan, and "true" paid time off.

 

About the Position

Our Family Vet is looking for an experienced mixed animal Veterinarian to help grow our thriving practice! The ideal candidate will have some hands on  experience, be personable and a team player.  This role has a great working hours: NO weekends, closed over lunch and last appointments are seen at 4:30pm!

 

About the Hospital

While the majority of the current case load is small animal, we offer a unique blend of small animal, farm animal, and equine services . Equine services include: equine MRI, elective and emergency surgery, reproductive care, dental care, lab services, colic treatment and more. Equine and large animal represents about 10% of our current case load.  There is an opportunity to grow this side of the business over time for someone interested in this type of medicine. Small animal services offered include wellness care, nutrition and diagnostic work, surgery/dental care, nutrition and end of life care.

Responsibilities

  • Examine animals to assess their health and diagnose problems
  • Treat and dress wounds
  • Perform surgery on animals
  • Test for and vaccinate against diseases
  • Operate medical equipment, such as x-ray machines
  • Advise animal owners about general care, medical conditions, and treatments
  • Prescribe medication
  • Work closely in collaboration with Team Members to provide high quality care

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required
  • Licensure in the state/s candidate will be working
  • Ability to show compassion to both pets and their owners
  • Outstanding dexterity in handling animals while performing precise tasks
  • Ability to react quickly and make decisions under pressure about the wellbeing of an animal
  • Strong fondness and understanding of animals
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of animal behavior
  • Ability to use medical technologies during diagnosis, research and surgery of animals
