Description
The Staff Accountant (Accounts Payable) is responsible for managing all accounts payable activities. They directly support the Accounting Manager, supervising a team of Accounts Payable Specialists, ensuring accurate and timely payment of vendor invoices, maintaining financial records, and supporting month-end closing activities. The role requires strong command of basic accounting principles, proficiency with Excel, and effective communication with internal teams and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities
· Coordinate with vendors and internal parties to resolve accounts payable issues
· Determine appropriate accounting treatment of transactions
· Assist AP Specialists to verify vendor invoices for accuracy, proper approval, 3-way matching, and correct coding
· Prepare and execute weekly payment runs (ACH, wire, checks)
· Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies or disputes
· Record transactions in the general ledger
· Assist with month-end and year-end closing, including accruals and reconciliations
· Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation
· Respond to vendor and internal inquiries regarding payments and invoices
· Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
· Take on other accounting projects and tasks as needed
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
· 2–5 years of experience in accounting roles, with accounts payable exposure
· Strong understanding of accounting principles and AP processes
· Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite)
· Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel
· High attention to detail and accuracy
· Strong organizational and time-management skills
· Good communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience in a high-volume AP environment
· Knowledge of sales and use tax

· Office or hybrid work setting
· May require extended hours during month-end or year-end close
