Job Description

Position Title: Utility Construction Laborer

Reports To: Foreman/Project Manager

Department: Field

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Location: Whitmore Lake, MI


Job Summary:

We are looking for utility construction laborers to join our team! As a utility construction laborer, you would be responsible for helping assist the foreman and team with installing and replacing underground utilities.


KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of water mains, sewer mains, etc. 

o Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites. 

o Installing and removal of water and sewer mains. 

· Reading and interpreting plans, instructions, and specifications to determine work activities

· Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed

· Driving various vehicles to job sites, traffic control and flagging

· Utilize hand tools to dig near existing underground utilities

· Travel within the State of Michigan is required


Compensation:

Compensation follows the scale rate of the associated union, and experience. Currently, scale begins at a taxable wage of $28.41/hour ($24.41/hour base pay + $4/hour vacation pay).

Those that have a CDL will earn $2.00/hour above scale.

Requirements:

· Valid Driver’s License (CDL preferred - employees will receive an extra $2.00/hour with a valid CDL)

· Satisfactory driving record (MVR check will be conducted prior to hire)

· Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug screens in accordance with company policy and DOT regulations

· Ability to pass a pre-employment background screening

· Ability to be a team player

· Dedicated, hard-working and goal focused

· Willing to work overtime and weekends, and work in all weather conditions

· Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
