Position Overview
The Auburn Breakaway Director is a campus-based leadership role responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all aspects of Bayside’s Breakaway camp in collaboration with the Global Breakaway directive and the campus Kids Pastor. This position provides strategic leadership, manages logistics, registration, and budgets, and builds and supports strong teams of staff and volunteers to create a fun, safe, and spiritually impactful camp experience for children. The Breakaway Director works closely with Bayside leadership and ministry teams to ensure excellence in vision, organization, and execution at the campus level.
General Responsibilities
- Provide campus-level leadership, direction, and oversight for all Breakaway operations.
- Develop and execute the Breakaway vision and strategy in collaboration with Bayside leadership and the Global Breakaway directive.
- Manage the overall planning timeline, logistics, registration processes, and execution of the camp.
- Support and assist the Breakaway team and campus ministries as needed.
- Meet regularly with the Children’s Pastor to provide updates and align on ministry initiatives.
- Ensure Breakaway reflects Bayside’s mission, vision, and values.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Regularly meet with staff, team leaders, and assistant leaders to provide updates and ensure alignment.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Execution
- Develop comprehensive project plans and schedules aligned with the Global Breakaway directive.
- Coordinate with Bayside staff, ministries, and Global Breakaway leadership to communicate campus needs and deadlines.
- Oversee curriculum implementation and campus execution.
- Ensure all elements of camp are executed with excellence, safety, and consistency.
Registration & Administration
- Oversee all campus-level Breakaway registration processes.
- Manage online and in-person registration systems.
- Maintain accurate participant records and reporting.
- Respond to family inquiries.
- Manage waitlists, cancellations, payment coordination, and special accommodations.
Volunteer Leadership & Development
- Recruit, train, and manage lead volunteers and team leaders.
- Build and oversee Breakaway volunteer teams.
- Organize and lead volunteer trainings (general and role-specific).
- Schedule fingerprinting and oversee volunteer clearance processes.
- Develop and implement on-site safety and security plans.
- Encourage, support, and recognize volunteers and team leaders.
Budget & Operations
- Create and manage the campus Breakaway budget.
- Track expenses and ensure financial responsibility.
- Contact, confirm, and manage vendors and contracts.
- Oversee ordering of camp supplies, shirts, and giveaways.
Promotion & Materials
- Partner with the Global Breakaway team to implement the creative vision and marketing look of Breakaway.
- Coordinate creation, ordering, and distribution of promotional materials.
Logistics & Compliance
- Manage all logistical needs, including scheduling, supplies, facilities coordination, and transportation support.
- Obtain required permits and approvals.
- Ensure all operations meet Bayside safety standards and policies.
Meetings & Collaboration
- Meet regularly with campus staff, Global Breakaway partners, and volunteer leaders to provide updates and alignment.
- Attend Bayside campus, department, and all-staff meetings as required.
Mission Critical
- Actively support, communicate, and advance Bayside’s mission, vision, values, and strategic goals.
- Build and lead healthy staff and volunteer teams who collectively live out these priorities.
- Maintain open, healthy, and consistent communication with your supervisor, staff, and ministry partners.
- Uphold and model Bayside’s Core Values, Staff Culture, Vision Statement, and Points of Accountability.
