About The Company
The Puyallup Tribe operates an ambulatory medical and dental care facility within the boundaries of the Puyallup reservation in the city of Tacoma. The program is operated under P.L. 93-638 authority and follows the general model of IHS health centers of similar size. Inpatient care and referral specialty care are authorized for eligible individuals by the Managed Care Service also operated under P.L. 93-638 authority. A dental lab, outreach service, mental health program, WIC/well child program, and nutrition programs supplement the ambulatory services of the tribal health authority.

Location: Puyallup Tribal Health Authority | Tacoma, WA | On-Site

Schedule: Full-Time | Mon – Fri, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Hiring Range: $64,335.00 - $97,500.00 per year (depending on licensure)

We are seeking a Referral Services Supervisor (RN or LPN) who brings both clinical expertise and leadership strength. What You’ll Do:

As the Referral Services Supervisor, you’ll oversee the daily operations of the Referral Services Department — ensuring every referral is processed efficiently, accurately, and with cultural and clinical excellence. You’ll guide a dedicated team, streamline workflows, and collaborate with providers and partners to ensure that every patient receives the care they need, when they need it.

  • Supervise, mentor, and support the Referral Services team — fostering growth, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Provide clinical oversight and guidance on referral management, PRC (Purchased/Referred Care) processes, and utilization review.
  • Lead continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy, timeliness, and patient satisfaction.
  • Conduct clinical and administrative case reviews for PRC Committees and prepare utilization and expenditure reports.
  • Collaborate with internal providers, external specialists, and the Member Services team to ensure coordinated, equitable access to care.
  • Monitor referral trends and develop cost-containment and access-improvement strategies.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with all PRC, TMRS, and federal healthcare regulations.
  • Promote culturally responsive, patient-centered care that aligns with community values.


Who You Are & What You Bring:

You are an experienced nurse and natural leader who balances clinical knowledge with compassion. You see systems through both a data-driven and human-centered lens — understanding that behind every referral is a person, a family, and a story.

  • Current WA State RN License and (3) years of leadership experience in a healthcare setting -OR- Current WA State LPN License and (5) years of leadership experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Experience in referral coordination, case management, or utilization review preferred.
  • Strong leadership and mentorship skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
