Job Description
USA Volleyball seeks a Full Time Seasonal Assistant Athletic Trainer (ATC) from April through August to work within the Sports Medicine and Performance Division of the Beach National Teams Program (BNT). USA Volleyball’s interdisciplinary medical and performance team provides an excellent work environment while demonstrating a comprehensive approach to athlete care. The Seasonal ATC will be an integral member of this medical team and will report directly to the Head Athletic Trainer, BNT.
Cross departmental support is a general expectation of all USAV employees. Extended hours may be required to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
The position is located in Torrance, CA.
Requirements
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:
- Work within the current sports medicine team to provide comprehensive medical care for all athletes.
- Work independently as the sole medical provider for non-traveling athletes while staff ATC is away with the traveling teams.
- Monitor training sessions and assist with pre- and post-practice preparation, therapy, and emergency care.
- Design, implement, and/or carry out injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation programs.
- Collaborate and communicate closely with the strength & conditioning coach and other medical providers (LMT’s, ATC’s, DC’s, & MD’s).
- Assist with supervision of auxiliary support staff.
- Assist Head Athletic Performance Coach with weightroom monitoring and supervision as needed.
- Document daily injury evaluations, treatments, and rehabilitation.
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism at all times.
- Activate emergency protocols when necessary.
- Contribute to positive team culture.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Athletic Training from a Board Certification approved program.
- National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).
- Minimum three (3) years of sports medicine experience following certification.
- Current Health Care Provider CPR certification.
- No record of founded malpractice claims, professional boundary violation, or State Board sanctions.
- Proficient with manual therapy and rehabilitation techniques.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations including athletes, coaches, administrative staff, and other medical personnel in a high stress environment.
- Must successfully pass a USAV background screen (prior to hire date).
- Must complete SafeSport training within two weeks of hire date and keep current as a condition of continued employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Sports Medicine Field.
- NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
- Experience working with elite athletes.
- Experience working with volleyball athletes.
- Experience working within a weightroom facility.
- Certification in soft tissue modalities (ART, NMT, Massage, etc.).
Salary: $70,304/Annually
