Job Summary
As a Varnisher, you’ll prepare and finish wood, fiberglass, metal, and other surfaces, ensuring every detail meets the highest standard. The ideal candidate has experience in marine varnishing with a strong command of tools, techniques, and surface preparation. Responsibilities
Surface Preparation: Prepare wood, metal, fiberglass, and other surfaces for painting and varnishing. Preparation includes stripping, scuffing, sanding, masking, and priming surfaces, hardware, and windows.?
Tools: Use appropriate tools, such as hand and power tools, scraper, sandpaper, steel wool, or chemicals.?
Application: Apply paint, varnish, stain, gel coat, enamel, and lacquer, as appropriate, ensuring a smooth and even application.?
Quality Control: Inspect finished product for defects and ensure compliance with company standards and customer satisfaction.
Other: All duties as assigned.
Requirements
Experience: Minimum three (3) years of painting experience, preferably in boat building or repairs.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 pounds and be on your feet for a prolonged period.
Certifications: Must hold a valid driver’s license.
Pre-Employment: All applicants must be able to successfully pass a background check as a condition of employment.
Qualifications
Knowledge and operation of basic hand and power tools; Sandpapers, paintbrushes, cleaning agents, tapes, grinders, surface sanders, DA and block sanders, polishers.
Skilled in various painting techniques.?
Familiarity with matching and blending colors.
Work Environment
Location: On-site
Conditions: Requires working in all weather conditions. Elements such as dust, dirt, fumes, vibration, noise, and chemicals may be present.
