Description
We are looking for a passionate, reliable individual with a love of play to join the team at the Explorium Denton Children's Museum, a program of Denton County Friends of the Family. The Play Expert is responsible for facilitating educational experiences and activities, engaging in play, and creating a warm and welcoming learning environment for families of diverse backgrounds and children of all ages. This position requires 15-20 hours/week including consistent availability on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) in order to assist with hosting scheduled parties and special events.
Primary Functions:
- Engages in play with visitors and guests and carries out educational programming, experiences, and activities
- Preforms daily operational tasks of the museum and provides information about regulations, facilities, and exhibits to visitors and callers.
- Opening and closing the museum at designated hours.
- Greeting and checking in visitors and manages documentation of payments.
- Examines exhibit facilities and collection objects periodically and notifies manager when need for repair or replacement is observed
- Enforce all rules and regulations promptly and professional; notify the designated staff of inappropriate behavior of facility users.
- Respond quickly, efficiently, and professionally to any emergency situations; complete necessary paperwork and notify supervisor of situations.
- Assists with general maintenance/upkeep of all areas and removes obstacles to play.
- Notifies manager of supply needs
- Preserve and enhance the Agency’s image in the community through all interactions.
- At every opportunity, inform community members of services available to victims of relationship violence and sexual assault through Denton County Friends of the Family
- Participate in DCFOF staff and education meetings as requested.

Requirements
Prerequisites:
- High school diploma or GED
- Demonstrated ability to listen to others and display empathy
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, and other Windows based programs
- Excellent customer service, communication and time management skills
- Weekend availability
Preferences:
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Some college
- CPR and First Aid Certifications
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
- Ability to easily climb stairs
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
