About the Role

As our Sr. Buyer, you will be a part of a knowledgeable and well-diverse engineering team who loves to have fun and get stuff done!  You will play a key role in purchasing and scheduling activities. This position supports all operational locations. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Make daily purchases within allotted programs based on requisitions and analyze the quality, specifications, and delivery requirements 
  • Send out quotations for bids on non-contracted items and negotiate the best price 
  • Enter purchase orders into the system and issue them to the supplier via fax or email 
  • Review purchase orders on a weekly basis via our reporting system and follow up on past due items, plus requirements due in the coming weeks
  • Highlight any problem areas and report them to the manager
  • Interact with Planning and Production to ensure any changes in production requirements are flowed down to suppliers 
  • Liaise with planners to control scheduling of parts to ensure stock levels meet demands while staying within stock level buffers 
  • Review Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)/Withhold tags written against suppliers and relays such information to them with corrective action 
  • Update suppliers with engineering changes and drawings



Qualifications (Education, Training, Experience):

 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing is required
  • Must possess excellent written, oral, and presentation skills as well as solid math skills
  • Must be able to multitask
  • Must have strong telephone skills and be very organized
  • Must be a “team player”
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must be able to work with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace as well as the company's MRP/ERP system

 

The job duties and responsibilities may be changed based on Winchester's  requirements.

This position reports to the Value Stream Manager

The employee is subject to Performance and Competence Evaluation as specified per QP 7.2.
