About the Role

Behavioral Health Allies- Live, Learn, Grow


A valid CDL driver's license with B or P endorsement OR Class E driver's license with S or P endorsement is required.


CDL starts at $21.00

Class E/S Endorsement starts at $20.00

Position

As a Behavioral Health Allies Van Driver you will be operating a school van over designated routes and transporting school aged individuals. In addition, you may transport BHA clients for various charter trips. As a driver, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of clients.


ALL DRIVER JOBS ARE PART TIME SPLIT SHIFT; 20-25 HOURS PER WEEK

MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY SPLIT SHIFT - 6:30 AM - 9:00 AM AND 3:00 PM - 6:30 PM


Key Responsibilities

  • Follow safety rules as students board and exit van or cross streets near stops
  • Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner
  • Check the condition of a vehicle's equipment to ensure that everything is in working order
  • Maintain order among pupils during trips to ensure safety
  • Pick up and drop off students at regularly scheduled locations, following strict time schedules

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • High School/GED required.
  • 1-4 years’ experience as a driver

License Requirements

  • Must have a safe and valid driver’s license according to the school regulations.
  • Class E License with S or P endorsement OR CDL License with B or P endorsement required.

Training and Specific Skills and Abilities

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to drive when in the field.
  • Must satisfactorily complete all required training.
  • Be able to pass all background checks, which may include physical, drug screening and licensure.

Working Conditions

The job operates almost solely within a vehicle as either a driver or the driver’s aide. This position requires the ability to drive up to 50 miles day or night on all types of roads and in all types of weather. This position is exposed to noise, vibrations, and vehicle fumes. The Van Driver will be trained to engage with individuals with behavioral and developmental disabilities.


Physical Requirements

The ability to sit for extended periods of time, bend, twist, squat, reach, pull, and climb in and out of van.
