Our privately held company has over 100 years of liquid sensing experience, is growing, and currently employs 230 team members in Houston, Texas and 115 in Shanghai, China. We have an immediate need for a hands-on Laboratory Production Associate to join our Houston-based team. This individual will report directly to the Director of Chemistry.


POSITION DESCRIPTION 

Summary

This position fulfills internal & external customers’ orders in a timely manner, ensures all guidelines are followed, supports the work of the manager, and assists team members and other areas when schedule and workload permit. The position follows standard work methods and safe work practices to ensure effective and efficient production in the lab while completing work orders with a high degree of accuracy.

Essential Functions

  • Always adhere to Alpha’s CORE VALUES when executing an action.
  • Manufacture liquid solutions and gels with ulta-pure water and chemical materials while following Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform product testing to support lab production following Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs).
  • Fill plastic bottles with solutions or gels per work orders following Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs).
  • Manufacture various sensing elements for electrochemical, optical, and DNA-based liquid sensors following Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintain raw materials and finished goods inventory accuracy within our ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system through accurate and timely word order transactions and cycle counts.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned; duties and activities may change over time.

Physical Demands

At times, the position may require the employee to work in a back-lit room. At times, the position may also require the employee to operate manual or automatic press machines. Wearing standard PPE such as lab coat, safety glasses, face mask or respirators may be required. The employee is required to sit, stand, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

Requirements

Required Qualifications and Experience

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Previous chemistry lab experience preferred.

Must be able to pay attention to details and operate with a level of precision.

Basic computer skills including Microsoft basics (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Must be comfortable dealing with numbers and basic math.

Must be comfortable handling chemicals, especially in powder form, while following safety guidelines.

Must be comfortable handling high temperature equipment while following safety guidelines.

Must be comfortable to occasionally lift up to 35 pounds.

Must be comfortable working and conversing with diverse team members. 

Must be conversant in English for safe and effective performance of the job.

Occasional overtime to meet business needs.

Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
