We feature a Mobile Valve Shop repair trailers, on-site rebuilding, and AccuTEST® electronic pressure relief valve testing system. We offer OEM assembly available for Anderson Greenwood, and Crosby valves. Emerson LifeCycle certified control valve diagnostic evaluation, repair, and calibration. About the Role

Description

Midwest Valve Services, a Novaspect Inc. company, is currently offering an opportunity for a Senior Shop Manager to join our fast-paced, customer-oriented team. Reporting to the Director of Final Control Services, the Senior Shop Manager directs, manages, and optimizes the production, operations, and profitability of the facility. This includes financial performance, setting policies and procedures, maintaining safety and quality standards, building customer relationships, and leading efficient and engaged teams. The Senior Shop Manager collects and analyzes data, sets performance goals, and collaborates with other facilities, Sales, Quality, and Estimating to drive business growth and exceed customer expectations. This role exemplifies and promotes Novaspect Identity. 


Senior Shop Manager Responsibilities: 

  • Employee Management: Promote Novaspect Identity and culture of quality workmanship. Work with the Shop Manager to support their efforts in managing their direct reports; review all performance issues and provide direction, support the discipline process; review performance satisfaction forms; review compensation annually, approve terminations in conjunction with HR; provide counsel as needed. 
  • Safety, Quality, and Productivity: Ensure the safety, quality, productivity, and growth of their facility, driving overall departmental performance to achieve profitability. 
  • KPI Analysis: Analyze KPIs related to facility finances, productivity, resource loading, quality, and safety; engage with Shop Manager to ensure alignment with company goals. 
  • Team Management: Promote Novaspect Identity and culture of quality workmanship. Provide day-to-day management of Shop Managers; allocate resources and support the team as needed. 
  • Operations Support: Support the inside sales and coordination staff with the quoting and invoicing process and communicate any out of scope or change order requirements during repairs. Provide guidance and support for changes in job scope and/or timetables to ensure customer's expectations are met.
  • Backlog Management: Monitor and improve backlog, and work with inside sales and coordinators to meet delivery expectations.
  • Budgeting and Financial Planning: Support the budgeting process, provide information on CapX expenditures, staffing changes, and additional resources; develop recommendations and supporting documentation. 
  • Sales and Customer Interaction: Serve as the main point of contact for sales inquiries. Work with estimators, coordinators, and Shop Supervisors to resolve issues. 
  • Vendor and Customer Relations: Manage relationships with vendors, OEMs, partners, and customers working with the facility.
  • New Business Development: Support business development efforts in collaboration with Sales, serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries and maintain customer relationships.  
  • Annual Business Initiatives: Implement annual and strategic business unit initiatives with the Director of Final Control Services and Midwest Valve Service leadership team.
  • Continuous Improvement: Work with other Shop Managers to identify and implement continuous improvement programs. 
  • Asset Reliability: Ensure shop asset integrity and reliability.

Requirements

Senior Shop Manager Education and/or Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred; High School Diploma required. 
  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance or related experience required. 
  • 5+ years of people management experience required. 
  • Financial and business acumen experience required. 
  • High computer application literacy (including Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to learn internal business systems).

Senior Shop Manager Pay:

  • Salary range: $145K-165K 
  • Potential Bonus: 10%

The final offer will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to the candidates depth of experience, skill set, qualifications, and internal pay equity. Hiring at the top end of the range would not be typical, to allow for future meaningful salary growth in the position.   


Senior Shop Manager Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs 
  • Ability to work at heights 
  • Ability to work on your feet for 8 hours per day 
  • Ability to work in a loud industrial environments
  • Comfortable working around industrial equipment with exposed moving parts 
  • Ability to climb stairs  
  • Ability to drive 8 hours as needed in a day – although not typical
