Pay Range
Start in this position with no experience needed at $15/hr. We have an on-the-job, paid, training program here, and track that training with a Progression Guideline. Those who achieve the 12-week goal outlined in the guideline, while maintaining a positive consistency in the following five attributes: Quality, Attitude, Teamwork, Production, and Attendance, will be moved to $17/hr. As production goals continue to be met, pay increases follow. This allows for a lot of room to increase our earnings within the position, and we are always looking to promote from within our company.

Summary
This position is responsible for operating a draw knife (beam) to shave off all excess tissues from animal skins. Skinners also thoroughly turn out hides, salt and re-salt hides.
Essential Functions
- Operate draw knife (beam)
- Remove all excess tissue
- Note any holes or issues with animal skin
- Salt and re-salt hides
- Turn faces and take out toe bones with a scalpel
- Maintain a positive consistency in the following five attributes: Quality, Attitude, Teamwork, Production, and Attendance
- Wear protective gloves
- Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisors or managers

Requirements
Required Education and Experience
- Must be 18 years of age or older to work in a hide cellar (Workroom or workplace where hides are graded, trimmed, salted, and otherwise cured)
Preferred Education and Experience
- High School Diploma
- Skinning Experience
Physical Demands
This job requires the ability to bend, stand, and lift. Must be able to stand for extensive periods of time and perform repetitive motion, gripping and grasping. Lifting requirements are classified as Heavy Work; 25-50 pounds of force will be exerted frequently, and 50-100 pounds of force will be exerted occasionally.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time hourly position. Standard weekly hours include a minimum of four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday, 6am - 4:30pm. Mandatory overtime is often required and takes place on Fridays. Shifts may vary per management discretion.
