The Part Inspector is responsible for performing visual and basic dimensional inspections on investment cast turbine blades and vanes to verify that required CNC machining, EDM, waterjet, and snag operations have been completed prior to shipping. This role supports on-time delivery and compliance with Aerospace & Defense customer, AS9100, and internal quality requirements.

Requirements

  • Perform visual inspection of investment cast blades and vanes to confirm completion of required manufacturing processes (CNC, EDM, waterjet, and snag operations) prior to shipment.
  • Verify part condition, workmanship, and surface finish meet internal work instructions, routers, and customer requirements.
  • Review travelers, routers, and shop paperwork to ensure all required operations are properly signed off and complete.
  • Identify, document, and report nonconformances or discrepancies to Quality or Production leadership.
  • Handle parts carefully to prevent damage, foreign object debris (FOD), or mix-ups.
  • Maintain traceability and part identification in accordance with AS9100 requirements.
  • Follow all quality procedures, safety rules, and clean work area (5S) expectations.
  • Support on-time shipping by promptly releasing conforming parts and escalating issues when needed.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read and follow written work instructions and basic manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to visually detect defects, missing operations, or workmanship issues.
  • Willingness to work in a manufacturing / shop-floor environment.
  • Basic computer skills for reviewing electronic travelers or inspection records.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing, inspection, or aerospace environment.
  • Familiarity with investment casting, turbine blades, or vanes.
  • Basic understanding of CNC machining, EDM, waterjet cutting, or hand finishing processes.
  • Experience working under AS9100 or Nadcap quality systems.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and inspect parts for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and handle parts up to 50 lbs with proper lifting techniques.
  • Visual acuity required to inspect fine details and surface conditions.
  • Exposure to typical manufacturing conditions including noise, metal parts, and shop equipment.
