Job Summary 

The Assistant Production Manager is responsible for managing and supporting all aspects of plant production operations. This position focuses on personnel management, productivity, safety compliance, production planning, equipment operation, and interdepartmental communication. The Assistant Production Manager supports production leadership by managing supervisors, overseeing departmental operations, ensuring budget compliance, maintaining quality standards, and executing safety, production, and administrative programs in alignment with company policies and objectives.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of plant production operations, including personnel, productivity, safety compliance, and production planning
  • Oversee production supervisors and manage their scope of responsibilities
  • Manage the production environment within established budgetary parameters
  • Manage product inventory and execute product orders in accordance with budget guidelines
  • Provide production reports to the Production Manager and General Manager as required
  • Execute and ensure compliance with company associate programs and policies
  • Plan and administer monthly Safety Committee meetings
  • Conduct weekly team production meetings and daily production supervisor meetings
  • Oversee the Maintenance Department to ensure assigned responsibilities and operational expectations are met
  • Conduct daily product and quality audits to ensure company quality standards are achieved
  • Manage associates in accordance with progressive disciplinary guidelines
  • Coordinate HR-related functions for plant operations in collaboration with the HR Manager
  • Ensure housekeeping schedules are followed
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, vendor coordination, plant improvements, cost reduction initiatives, and administrative compliance

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Assistant Production Manager provides direct and indirect supervision to production supervisors and plant associates across multiple departments. The Assistant Production Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these employees during the shift.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience supervising operations in a manufacturing or industrial plant environment, including managing production employees, scheduling, training, and meeting production deadlines and project timelines
  • Working knowledge of production operations, plant equipment, and industrial safety practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal (human relations) skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while adapting to changing operational needs
  • Quality-focused mindset with high attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including extended hours, weekends, rotating shifts, and on-call availability 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Laundry industry experience
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent combination of education      and relevant manufacturing or production experience may be considered
  • Basic understanding of financial systems, budgeting, and cost controls related to plant operations
  • Knowledge of wage and hour compliance and basic labor regulations
  • Ability to learn and operate in multiple functional areas of plant operations
  • Healthcare or universal precautions training preferred
