Position Summary: 

The Fiscal Manager is responsible for the monthly close cycle, summary reporting, reconciliations, budget analysis, financial analysis, grant management and assisting with the annual audit. The Fiscal Manager has two direct reports and reports to the CFO.


Major Responsibilities:

1. Ensure that transactional data is properly prepared and reviewed. Monitors data in accounting system. Runs reports and analyzes data for the monthly close cycle. Prepares closing financial statements and ensures accuracy and timely reporting.

2. Reviews of all GL account reconciliations prepared by the staff accountant. Properly analyzes reserves and ensures compliance with accounting standards and controls.

3. Supervises transactional accounting staff, including staff accountant, billing, and accounts payable. Ensure that all these functions work seamlessly and efficiently.

4. Ensures comparative analysis is performed on payroll data, accounts payable data and billing data.

5. Oversee insurance billing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with payer requirements. Experience with Medicaid billing is preferred.

6. Preparation of required reports, such as monthly financial statements, annual federal and state grant reports, and semi-annual sales tax reports.


Other Responsibilities:

1. Assists with preparation for annual audit.

2. Assists with budgetary process.

3. Conduct internal audits as directed by CFO.

4. Ensures the provision of quality services to clients through participation in the agency's Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process.

5. Displays competence and responsiveness to cultural differences present in both customer and employee population.



Requirements


Qualifications:

Knowledge: A baccalaureate degree in Accounting required or equivalent experience. 


Experience: Three years prior accounting experience minimum; non-profit background preferred. Ability to quickly learn software and processes. 

 

Skills/physical/working conditions: Familiarity with accounting software, spreadsheets and word processing required. Strong organizational skills are necessary. Employees need to be self-directed.
