About the Role

Description

The Payroll & HRIS Implementation Manager is a hands-on role responsible for the full-cycle processing of payroll for multiple entities across various states and pay cycles. In addition to processing payroll, this position will lead the implementation, configuration, and ongoing optimization of the company’s Paylocity payroll and HRIS platform as new entities are onboarded.

This role is ideal for a payroll professional who enjoys being in the details, owns payroll end to end, and also thrives in building scalable systems and processes in a growing, multi-entity environment.

 

Key Areas of Focus

  • Payroll Processing & Compliance (Hands-On)
  • Process full-cycle payroll personally for multiple legal entities across multiple states and varying pay frequencies (weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, etc.).
  • Enter, review, and validate payroll data including hours, earnings, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and benefits.
  • Ensure payroll accuracy prior to each payroll run and resolve discrepancies proactively.
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local wage and hour laws and payroll tax regulations.
  • Manage payroll tax filings, reconciliations, notices, and amendments in coordination with Paylocity and tax vendors.
  • Handle employee payroll questions and issue resolution with a high level of confidentiality and customer service.
  • Support internal and external audits and prepare payroll-related reports and reconciliations.
  • HRIS & Payroll Platform Implementation (Paylocity)
  • Lead the hands-on implementation, configuration, and buildout of Paylocity across all entities.
  • Configure pay groups, earning and deduction codes, taxes, workflows, and security roles.
  • Build scalable payroll structures that support acquisitions, new entity onboarding, and organizational growth.
  • Own payroll setup for newly acquired or newly formed entities, including data migration, testing, and validation.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, IT, and Paylocity implementation teams to ensure accurate integrations and clean data flow.
  • Develop and maintain payroll and system documentation, standard operating procedures, and internal controls.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and system enhancements within Paylocity.

Entity Onboarding & Ongoing Support

  • Serve as the primary payroll and Paylocity subject matter expert for the organization.
  • Standardize payroll processes across entities while accommodating entity-specific requirements.
  • Train internal stakeholders on payroll processes and Paylocity functionality as needed.
  • Provide ongoing system support and troubleshooting for payroll and HRIS issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field, or equivalent experience 
  • 5+ years of hands-on payroll processing experience in a multi-entity, multi-state environment 
  • Direct experience implementing or configuring a payroll or HRIS platform 
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll laws, multi-state taxation, and wage and hour compliance 
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple payrolls and deadlines 

Preferred

  • Paylocity payroll and HRIS experience, with implementation experience strongly preferred 
  • Experience in a holding company, PE-backed, or high-growth organization 
  • Experience onboarding payroll for newly acquired entities or through M&A activity 
  • CPP certification
