Position Summary 

Reporting to the Production Engineering Manager, the Production Engineer works on a cross functional 

team of capable and experienced engineers who are working to scale and commercialize novel airspace 

protection and counter-drone defense products. Working with our team, this position will provide the 

development and commercialization of complex products with a dynamic and mission focused company. 

With skills and experience in product testing and design transfer of products, the Production Engineer 

works closely with Fortem team members and stakeholders to develop scalable processes, and 

introduce superior, highly effective, and safe products to the market. The Production Engineer brings to 

Fortem hands-on experience in product testing, manufacturing, and process improvements. 


Primary Responsibilities 

- Collaborate with design engineering to develop production tests including test requirements and equipment 

- Develop automated tests to streamline processes and improve quality 

- Investigate and resolve technical issues related to product functionality and testing equipment 

- Drive documentation of product assembly, test procedures, test jig & fixture designs 

- Provide design engineering and product development with feedback to increase manufacturability, product quality, and system integration 

- Oversee failure analysis process and drive corrective and preventative actions both internally and at the organization’s 3rd party manufacturers 

- Work with production to implement better workflows and production processes through continuous improvements and automation 

- Working closely with Hardware and Software Design Engineering to provide guidance and recommend design changes to fit Fortem’s current and future manufacturing processes. 

- Develop, implement, monitor, and optimize manufacturing processes and methods, in accordance with product specifications and quality standards 

- Generate detailed documentation (Travelers, BOMs, Routings) in support of manufacturing assembly and testing 

- Execute process qualifications through Fortem QA processes 

- Assist in failure investigations and root cause analyses as they relate to production processes, parameters, testing, and fixturing. Responsible for implementation of identified production and 

process improvements related to root cause investigations 

- Bring a “can do” spirit to work and deliver on other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

Education or Certification Requirements 

- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, or similar engineering discipline. 

- Professional Work Experience: minimum of 1-year direct experience as a Test/Manufacturing/NPI/R&D Engineer in a relevant manufacturing environment 


Qualifications and Skills 

- Demonstrated strong DFM knowledge including mistake-proofing, simplification, standardization, and testing 

- In depth knowledge of test methodologies and best practices 

- A preference for a candidate with experience working with electronics, mechanical assemblies, and electromechanical assemblies. 

- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics 

- Familiarity with automated testing tools and programming 

- A preference for a candidate with experience in Radar and UAV technology 

- Able to manage projects from initiation to production launch
