Walden Family Services is a private, non-profit California corporation founded in 1976 to provide quality care for abused & neglected children in residential group homes. In 1983, Walden transitioned into foster care, pioneering one of California's first "Treatment Foster Care"​ programs to offer children & teenagers an alternative to group home placements and was expanded in 1994 to include services for children with developmental disabilities. In 2001 Walden developed the Independent Futures program, providing services & support for pre- & post-emancipated foster youth; the Pregnant & Parenting Teen Program which supports pregnant & parenting teens both pre- & post-emancipation; and a program to educate the community, advocate for & safely place foster youth who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning (LGBTQ). In 2002 the Riverside district office opened a program to serve dependent children with special health care needs. This program expanded to our Los Angeles office in 2006 & to our San Diego office in 2007. In 2008 Walden secured an adoption license expanding our services to become a full service adoption agency in Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, San Bernardino, Riverside, Kern and Ventura Counties. With a staff of over 60 highly trained social service professionals, licensed therapists, & support personnel, Walden Family Services provides services to more than 255 children daily in over 180 certified foster homes in Southern California.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The individual must have an outgoing personality and be self-motivated.
  2. Strong computer skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  3. Bachelors’ degree required.
  4.  Must possess valid California Driver’s License, valid auto insurance and have a good driving record with a working vehicle.
  5.  Fingerprint and Child Abuse Index clearances from the Department of Justice. 
  6.  Must meet all requirements set by Community Care Licensing pertaining to the hiring of employees by a licensed community care facility.
  7.  Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

EMPLOYEE STATUS: Non-Exempt / Part-time - up to 30 hours a week.


SALARY RANGE: $22.00 - $24.00


DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

The primary responsibilities of this position are twofold. One is to introduce the agency to prospective resource families through advertising, phone interviews, and presentations to business, club and community organizations. In addition the position is responsible for insuring approval and re-approval requirements set by Community Care Licensing are met.

In addition the Recruiter will work with other agency staff to train and/or coordinate training. The goal is to build cohesive communication, and a knowledgeable group of long term, dedicated resource families. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinate and schedule training cycles so that trainings are always on-going and resource parent orientations and pre-approval trainings are held no more than 2 weeks apart.
  2. Coordinate and/or conduct pre-house and final foster home environment checks for safety and compliance with Community Care Licensing and agency regulations.
  3. Maintain resource family files to insure compliance with Community Care Licensing and Walden regulations. 
  4. Receive and track all resource parent inquiry calls, mail introduction letter. 
  5. Responsible for coordination and follow-up of all exemptions to Community Care Licensing for both families in the approval process and current approved families. 
  6. Responsible as a district expert/consultant on Community Care Licensing regulations and Walden policies and procedures concerning resource parenting. 
  7. Inspect, or arrange for inspection of all potential homes and homes being re-approved that have a pool or body of water.  
  8. Direct and coordinate all community networking, marketing and advertising efforts.  
  9. Attend county foster family agency meetings or other meetings in the community that pertain to recruitment.
  10. Complete weekly and monthly reports in a timely and thorough manner.
  11. If applicable, supervise Recruitment Assistant, and insure timeliness of all approvals and re-approvals.
  12. If applicable, teach all resource parent orientation classes. (Dependent on District staff structure.)
  13. At all times projects a favorable image of Walden Family Services.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned and requested.
