Position Summary:

The Fiscal Manager (Accounting & Grants) oversees accounting operations, financial reporting, and grant management while ensuring financial processes effectively support organizational operations. This role manages the monthly close, financial and budget analysis, and audit preparation, and partners closely with the CFO to maintain strong internal controls, efficiency, and compliance. The Fiscal Manager supervises two direct reports.


Major Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the monthly close process, including review of transactional data, reconciliations, and preparation of accurate and timely financial statements.
  2. Review general ledger account reconciliations and analyze reserves to ensure compliance with accounting standards, grant requirements, and internal controls.
  3. Supervise accounting, billing, and accounts payable staff; ensure financial and billing processes operate efficiently and support day-to-day operations.
  4. Perform financial and comparative analysis on payroll, accounts payable, and billing data; identify variances and opportunities for process improvement.
  5. Oversee insurance and third-party billing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with payer requirements; Medicaid billing experience preferred.
  6. Prepare and review required financial reports, including monthly financial statements, federal and state grant reports, and sales tax filings.

Other Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with annual audit preparation and coordination with external auditors.
  2. Support budget development, monitoring, and financial reporting.
  3. Conduct internal audits or financial reviews as directed by the CFO.
  4. Participate in the agency’s Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process.


Requirements


Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required or equivalent experience.

Experience: Minimum of three years of accounting experience required; nonprofit experience preferred. Experience overseeing accounting operations and supporting organizational processes.

Skills: Strong organizational and analytical skills. Proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheets, and word processing applications. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
