Description

JOB SUMMARY: Assembles and delivers patient trays and performs a combination of duties in the cafeteria. May prepares food items, portions, place food servings on plates, and maintains and collects dirty dishes. May assist with stocking food inventory. Maintains cleanliness of food service areas and equipment to ensure sanitary standards. OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class III.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists in the preparation of food in facility kitchen.

  • Prepares portion of food for patient meals.
  • Assembles patient trays.
  • Delivers trays and nourishment to patient areas.
  • Assists in the preparation of trays or nourishments not assembled on the tray line.

Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and cafeteria.

  • Washes pots, pans, dishes and utensils
  • Assists with sweeping, mopping and overall cleaning of the kitchen and cafeteria.
  • Sends dishes through the dish machine.
  • Sorts and racks clean dishes
  • Places clean dishes in the storage area.
  • Assists the cook in cleaning kitchen cooking equipment
  • Disposes of garbage and trash.
  • Maintains cleanliness of storerooms and dishwashing room.


Requirements

  • Education – High School or equivalent preferred.
  • Job Related skills – 
  • Ability to read, write and understand instructions in English. 
  • License, Registry or Certification – None required.
  • Experience –
  • Prior Work Experience – Entry level position
  • Previous experience in food service preferred.
  • Technical Training – None required.
  • Physical and Mental Requirements -  
  • Position requires extended periods of walking and standing. 
  • Some bending, stooping and reaching for food items and equipment.
  • Pushing and pulling of food carts and lifting up to 50 pounds. 
  • The ability to comprehend and follow written or verbal instructions and directions.

OTHER SIGNIFICANT REQUIREMENTS

  • Follows aseptic procedures and procedures for using precautions when involved in direct patient contact or handling potential infectious materials.
  • Knowledge of all chemicals and cleaning agents necessary to complete job.
  • Maintains HIPAA required and all other confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.
  • Follows MCHD Policies and Procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the department supervisor.
  • Performs essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
