About the Role:

The Director of Preconstruction provides leadership and guidance and assumes overall responsibility for the Preconstruction department. The Director of Preconstruction is responsible for: maintaining consistency, coaching and training of internal team members, management of department capacity, and providing the vision for continued growth. This position oversees and directly supervises the Preconstruction team.


Essential Functions:

• Initiates and oversees all preconstruction efforts.

• Leads the preconstruction efforts for RFP and RFQ processes and sells the value of the Preconstruction department.

• Manages team capacity for current and upcoming projects and ensures deadlines are met.

• Manages internal databases, software templates, tools, and processes.

• Manages project pursuit and strategy.

• Provides opportunities for continuing education.

• Reviews deliverables to ensure pursuit strategy, risk mitigation, and consistency have been met.

• Mentor Preconstruction team members on all aspects of the preconstruction process.

• Promotes a positive work environment and ensures the culture of the department is maintained.

• Splits time between Fort Collins and Denver to support Preconstruction teams efforts as required.

• Responsible for setting expectations for the department.

• Identify, interview, and hire positions needed to grow the Preconstruction department.

• Coordinates with Vice Presidents, Construction Executives, and Operations team on each respective pursuit.

• Coordinate with Vice Presidents and Business Development team to support annual business plans and strategic growth initiatives. Including attending/initiating client meetings, attending industry events, and participating in industry organizations. 

• Ensure subcontractor performance, prequalification, and capacity concerns are evaluated for each pursuit.

• Management of internal processes and procedures used by the Preconstruction department.

• Leads internal performance reviews and assess career progression, salary adjustments, and performance bonuses for the Preconstruction team.

Requirements


Qualifications – Desired Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a combination of related field/work experience.
  • 10+ years related experience in a Preconstruction role in the construction industry.
  • Demonstrates strong presence with presentation and sales skills.
  • Ability to actively listen and communicate.
  • Analytical skills and mathematical aptitude.
  • Ability to train, manage, and hold staff accountable to meet their job specific requirements.
  • Maintain highest level professional standards at all times.
  • Values participation and encourages team involvement.
  • Effective leadership, organizational and time management skills.
  • Displays honesty and integrity at all times.
  • Proficiency with departmental software and systems.

Work Environment: This is a full-time in-person role requiring the ability to travel between both our Fort Collins and Denver, Colorado offices.

Salary Range: Range of $150,000 to $205,000. Salary is commensurate with technical skills and experience.
